Water Quality Improvements Made for Preservation of Water Surroundings, Disaster Prevention Measures Taken for Safer Rivers

Water quality improvements

The water quality of Osaka's rivers has been improving yearly. Together with cities upstream, we are working toward preserving and revitalizing the natural water cycle and taking concrete measures to improve water quality.

Disaster prevention

In the past, the areas around Osaka Bay suffered from typhoons and tidal waves. Today, advanced flood control measures have greatly improved safety, but the high tide walls and aging floodwalls have spoiled the scenic beauty. Therefore, we are integrating disaster prevention measures with urban development by enhancing the seismic stability of the embankments and constructing super floodwalls.
