The Regional Risk Diversification Conference

Osaka as the choice for a second city strategy

Conference Summary

The Regional Risk Diversification Conference was held on September 9th, 2005 at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo and was a huge success with over 100 participants from companies in Tokyo and city officials from Osaka. The conference was split into two sessions: the first highlighted the risk of over concentration of investment in one location by foreign companies in the event of a natural disaster, and the second underlined the numerous advantages of Osaka as a second location. The conference provided an opportunity for participants to listen to a panel of experts discuss this over concentration risk in the context of the wider opportunity for a second city regional diversification strategy.

Speakers included executives from AIG, Merrill Lynch Japan Securities, Marsh Broker Japan, Colliers Halifax, Morgan Stanley Japan, KVH, Fuji Fire and Marine, and ProLogis.
